Apple Praline Scones

Yields 6 large scones.

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 cup white granulated sugar

2 sticks unsalted butter (cold, cut into cubes)

2/3 cup buttermilk

1/2 braeburn apple, peeled and sliced into small pieces

3/4 cup Austin Nuts Praline Pecans

For topping:

3 tablespoons white granulated sugar

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Line baking sheet with parchment paper

In large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, powder, and soda. Pour into food processor and add butter cubes. Pulse the food processor until the mixture looks like cornmeal. Pour in buttermilk, apple slices, and nuts. Pulse until no dry flour is visible; dough will be sticky.

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Using spoon, drop large balls of dough on the baking sheet. Form into round patties. Sprinkle white sugar over each. Press a praline pecan into the top of each scone. Bake about 18-20 minutes. Cool and serve.
